Stone carving has a long tradition in Batubulan, and the quality of the merchandise are often good. From young boys to previous males, all of them appears to be experts in stone carving here. The fabric used is principally “paras”, grey volcanic stone or soapstone. It’s no downside to stop by a stone carver and watch the workers do their job within the shadows below giant trees.
Batubulan can also be a middle for antiques, and has as well as a big number of textiles, woodcarving and different crafts on display. Naturally the temples around here is well-known for his or her lovely sculptures of stone, the Pura Puseh temple in Batubulan is a good example of this. Alongside the road from Batubulan to Gianyar there are three villages, every specialized in a particular craft. First Celuk which is a center for gold- and silversmiths, then Sukawati where they amongst other merchandise make the ever-present temple umbrellas. Not removed from Batubulan is Bali Chicken park, Taman Burung, a fairly new attraction value a visit. The park comprises for instance a man-made rainforest with chicken species naturally belonging there, like some uncommon birds of paradise. The park comprises species from many parts of the world, not only Asia. Subsequent to the fowl park there’s a reptile park with some fascinating snakes and reptiles, like the famous Komodo-dragon. The prices are relatively high, and there must be extra details about the completely different species. The parks could be hard to find, if you come from the route of Denpasar you’ll arrive at an intersection in Batubulan, observe the highway straight forward in direction of Ubud, not Gianyar. The highway is sort of slender, after a few hundred meters you will notice an indication and the doorway to the left.
