Maynard Lee Soland

Gillette resident Maynard Lee Soland, 72, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

Memorial services for Mr. Soland begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Home with Chaplain Gordon Harper officiating.

Mr. Soland was born March 25, 1945, to Leona and Bill Soland in Westhope, North Dakota. He attended school in North Dakota, including through high school graduation.

He moved around a lot in his youth and ended up in Worland, where he met his wife, Peggy Ann Clark. The couple moved to Gillette, where they married and made their home.

Mr. Soland started his own construction business, remodeling and building decks and patios. He had a passion for Elvis Presley music, loved working with wood and playing pool. He also loved to fly model airplanes and rockets.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Soland; son, Donovon Soland; a granddaughter; sisters, DeVerne, Nelda, Marsha and Lola; and brothers, Harold, Byron and Marvin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leona and Bill Soland; a grandson; sister, Sharon; and brothers, LaVerne, Bobby, David, Marshall and Kevin.
