DEVENS — Set in Maine, the acclaimed Hulu series “Castle Rock” has a particularly local storyline.

“Castle Rock” has used several locations throughout Middlesex County, along with the 72,000-square-foot compound of airplane hangar-sized buildings in Devens.
During filming months, as many as 600 people work at the site, all union members of any one of 60 specialized trades involved in the production, from craftsmen to stylists, tailors, sound engineers, graphic designers and housekeeping.
The studio also has been good business for local businesses.
“They have done a lot of work at Bull Run, some shooting over there,” said Melissa Fetterhoff, Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce president and CEO. “There is a print shop in Shirley that made some signage for the sets. And after hours some of the people go to downtown Ayer for billiards and beverages,” she said.
Scenes also were shot at the former Tewksbury Hospital.
Due to industry secrecy, Byers can’t talk about filming or even sets of the episodic drama before release. But he did explain how
