One of the most severe cold air outbreaks in years is possible from the Upper Midwest to the Northeast next week as the jet stream crashes south and a large lobe of the polar vortex plunges toward the Great Lakes.

Computer models forecast the brutal cold to crash into the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest starting Tuesday. The core of the frigid blast would grip the region from the Dakotas to the eastern Great Lakes on Wednesday and Thursday, sending cities such as Minneapolis, Des Moines, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Chicago and Detroit into a teeth-chattering freeze.

Confidence in a significant outbreak of Arctic air is high, but it’s too soon to project its exact strength and final legacy. Model predictions for the intensity of the cold snap range from historic and record-breaking to rather run-of-the-mill for midwinter.

The primary simulation from the American modeling system forecasts temperatures in the Midwest and Great Lakes next Wednesday to be 40 to 50 degrees colder than normal — which is a massive anomaly in the heart of winter when it is already very cold. Aircraft parts supplier signs deal with airline | 2018-11-12

A supplier of aircraft parts in the region has signed a long-term deal with a new client.

Tennessee-based Contour Airlines now has access to Norton Shores-based AeroVision International’s inventory of components, which will be used to support Contour’s growing fleet of ERJ 135 and 145 aircraft.

Parts will be sent from AeroVision’s main facility to Contour’s maintenance facilities in Tennessee, Georgia, Arizona, California and West Virginia.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“AeroVision is customizing service solutions for Contour Airlines to meet their specific operational, financial and maintenance requirements,” said Pete Gibson, VP of sales and marketing, AeroVision International.

Matthew Chaifetz, CEO of Contour Airlines, added: “As we evaluated options to support our rapid growth, it became clear that AeroVision was the ideal business partner, willing to adapt to a model that best fits our business, rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all approach.”

AeroVision

Founded in 2003, AeroVision International supplies business and regional commuter jet engines and engine parts to operators and maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities around the world.

AeroVision also offers sales and leasing of aircraft, engines, auxiliary power units, avionics and landing gear, as well as the outright or exchange sales of major internal and external spare parts.

Contour Airlines

Contour Airlines is the scheduled service brand of Contour Aviation, formed in 1982.

The company is a diverse aviation services provider that offers aircraft management and charter, scheduled airline service, a repair facility, aircraft sales and pilot and maintenance training.

Obituary: Daniel Lee Rocco (1/23/19)

Daniel Lee Rocco, of Nevada, Mo., passed suddenly from this life at Cox South in Springfield, Mo., surrounded by his family on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019. Dan was born in Raytown, Mo., on Oct. 3, 1947, to Ralph (Deke) and Marie (Cotton) Rocco. He attended Raytown South High School, graduating in 1965.

Dan served our country in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1972. After he was discharged from the Navy, Dan completed training and apprenticeship in sheet metal with A. Zahner Sheet Metal of Kansas City. He was a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local Union No. 2 for 45 years. Dan excelled in his work and was well respected by his co-workers. He quickly became a foreman for the company and led his crews on some amazing projects all over the world; including the ATT Tower, the Kauffman Center, the EMP (Experience Music Project) in Seattle, the Pulitzer Museum, Cottey College in Nevada, and Hong Kong International Airport. Dan was a loyal, dependable and hard-working man, devoting his life to his work in architectural construction.

Dan married his wife Judy Ann Gilman, of Nevada, Mo., in the summer of 1981. He loved his family with passion and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Rocco of Nevada, Mo.; four children, Ashley Rocco of Bronaugh, Mo., Miranda Pucci (and her husband, Nick) of Ballwin, Mo., Amy Kent (and her husband, Jamie) of Wentzville, Mo., and Michael Rocco (and his

PYMATUNING TWP., PA (MyValleyTributes) – Mervyn D. Rinehart, 86, of Pymatuning Township, passed away following an extended illness, Tuesday morning, January 22, 2019, at his residence.

He was born in Freeport, Illinois, on June 28, 1932, to the late Clarence and Pearl (Jacobs) Rinehart.

Mervyn grew up in Wisconsin, where he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a corporal during the Korean War, where he received a Purple Heart.

He was a charter member of the Reynolds Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7599.

Mervyn retired from the former Sawhill Tubular, now known as Wheatland Tube.

He was a self-taught artist and enjoyed painting. He also enjoyed making model airplanes, hunting, fishing, bowling and gardening; especially flowers. He loved the companionship of his dogs.

Mervyn is survived by his wife at home, Beverly A. (Whalen) Rinehart. They were married on June 29, 1957.

Man accused of groping woman on flight: Trump ‘says it’s OK to grab women’

A man arrested for allegedly touching a woman’s breast on an airplane, according to court documents, told authorities “the president of the United States says it’s OK to grab women by their private parts.”

Bruce Alexander was on a Houston-to-Albuquerque flight on Sunday when he twice leaned forward and touched the breast of a woman sitting in front of him, court records show.

The woman, who wasn’t identified, told authorities she thought the first of two touchings may have been accidental, while the second clearly wasn’t.

According to court documents, after she dozed off and was touched again “she rose from her seat, turned around and told the passenger behind her that she didn’t know why he thought it was OK and he needed to stop.”

A crew member relocated the woman to a different seat.

Alexander, whose hands matched those described by the victim — “thick fingers, were hairy and dirty finger nails” — was arrested when the plane landed.

Alexander has been charged with abusive sexual contact. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later today.

It’s unclear at this time whether Alexander has retained legal counsel.

During the final months of the 2016 presidential campaign, then-candidate Trump was caught on a 2005 video bragging to “Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush about sexually assaulting women.

“It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything,” Trump said. “Grab them by the p—-. You can do anything.”
