How to find out if you’re flying on a Boeing 737 Max

As countries around the world are grounding all Boeing 737 Max planes after the Ethiopian Airlines crash on Sunday that killed 157 people, U.S. passengers are growing concerned after the FAA announced airlines can still fly the Boeing jet in the country.

Passengers are taking to social media, expressing their anxieties about flying on one of the Boeing models and asking their airlines how to know if they’ll be on a 737 Max 8 or 737 Max 9.

Is Commercial Flight Safer Than Ever?

Following a fatal Boing 737 crash in Ethiopia last Sunday that killed all 157 people on board a number of prominent politicians are asking questions about the state of airplane safety. On Tuesday, President Donald Trump tweeted that “airplanes are becoming far too complex to fly” and that an aircraft model that is “old and simpler is far better.”

What to Know if Your Boeing 737 Max 8 Flight Was Canceled

For passengers like Mr. Damiani, 29, the change of face by U.S. authorities meant they needed to change plans. He tried rescheduling his flight online, but was redirected to call the customer service line. When he called the line, he was told there was a 28-minute callback time, so he tried to get help at his gate.

“Every desk was solidly 50 people deep,” he said. “This was already a busy day with SXSW.”

He is now flying to New Orleans on a 7:15 p.m. flight with a layover in Orlando.

Here’s what passengers need to know about the grounding.

The Ethiopian Airlines plane crash that killed 157 people on Sunday rattled travelers, lawmakers and aviation officials around the world. Just five months ago, the same model of airplane — a Boeing 737 Max 8, operated by Lion Air — crashed off Indonesia and killed all 189 people onboard.

While the cause of Sunday’s tragedy remains undetermined, and the investigation into the Lion Air accident is ongoing, several circumstances surrounding these two crashes are similar.

The 200-seat Boeing 737 Max 8 has been a popular plane since it came on the market in 2017, with more than 4,000 planes ordered within the first six months. The plane sold quickly, based on features that passengers crave — a quieter cabin, more

A jet’s engine and 300 hp power, this is the truck that wowed the world | Video

The body of a mini truck that is over 70 years old and the engine of a sea plane that stopped flying in the 1950s. These two were used by a four-member family in the US to build an extraordinary truck. The love for trucks runs in their family and once they were smitten by airplanes too, the idea for the unique truck took birth. The family waited for the dream truck not a few years but decades. And, once you see the performance of the Plymouth pickup truck powered by a radial aircraft engine, you will agree that their wait was worth it.

The Corns family

Before talking about the wonder truck, one should know the family first. Only then one will be able to understand how they came upon the crazy idea of combining a truck and an airplane. The Corns family consists of Gary Corns, wife Alice and kids Adam and Eric. After their marriage, the garage owned by Alice’s family was taken over by Gary and Alice. Their love for vehicles had prompted them to do so. They were conducting experiments with the vehicles in the garage when the 1939 Plymouth truck appeared in the scene.

Gary bought the truck for $500 in the beginning of the 80s. Though he fell for it in the first sight itself he didn’t know what to do with it. None of the spare parts of the truck were available then. For the next 30 years, it was parked in the garage unattended.

Grounding of 350 Boeing aircraft causes huge logistical problems

Leadership teams across the commercial aviation industry, including airlines, leasing companies and manufacturers, treat safety as a number one priority.

Aside from the obvious commercial reasons for such a stance there is a deep rooted moral element in executive minds too. It is simply unacceptable to operate flight equipment that risks the safe passage of men, women and children in the modern world. Period.

Such a mindset is hardwired in to the minds of senior aviation executives so the tragedy of Ethiopian Airlines ET302 last Sunday sent a shockwave through the collective management teams of the global aviation eco-system.

Not only has the event itself, causing the death of 157 people, cast a shadow across the industry’s safety record but the fact that it involved an almost new Boeing 737 Max 8 hit a particular nerve. That aircraft type was only introduced to commercial service in 2017, and it is the same airplane model operated by Lion Air of Indonesia which endured a fatal crash just last October with the loss of 189 lives.

For now, commerce and money have to step outside the door at Boeing

At times such as this regulators come into their own. It was the Chinese who correctly began grounding Max aircraft last Monday but that has spread rapidly to other jurisdictions. When all of Europe and, ultimately, North America followed suit a full-blown crisis unfolded for Boeing.

Airlines and lessors will ask regulators to give clear and unalloyed guidance forthwith.

Data and Voice Recorders Are Recovered in Ethiopian Airlines Crash

The F.A.A. hasn’t taken that kind of step on a fleet of aircraft since 2013, when it ordered Boeing 787s to stop flying temporarily after a problem with the plane’s battery system was identified.

The agency, which certified the latest version of Boeing’s best-selling jet as airworthy in 2017, has not taken that step with the Max 8 despite mounting questions about the plane’s safety record.

Boeing issued a statement late Monday night saying that for the past several months, in the aftermath of the crash of Lion Air Flight 610, the company has been developing a “flight control software enhancement for the 737 MAX, designed to make an already safe aircraft even safer.” According to the company, it has been working with the F.A.A. to roll out the software updates across the 737 MAX fleet in the coming weeks.

The Association of Flight Attendants sent a letter to the F.A.A. calling for a review of the Max 8. “We need help from the regulators when the entire world is looking at two catastrophic incidents that happened on the same aircraft type within five months of each other,” said Sara Nelson, the president of the flight attendants’ union. “Our system is so safe that these things don’t happen today. That is why people are questioning what is going on here.”

Pilots also raised questions. “We’re very

Turner High School students take on state science competition

TOWN OF BELOIT – Thirty Turner students left early this morning to spend the next two days taking tests.

Varsity and junior varsity teams from Turner High School are venturing to the University of Wisconsin-Stout to compete in the Wisconsin Science Olympiad State Tournament today and Saturday. Coaches Kelsey Uttke and Nolan Otremba believe their teams are ready to compete in the tournament’s 27 different events.

“From biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, the events range the entire science spectrum,” Otremba said. “It’s really good, because then kids can participate in events that cater to their interests.”

Otremba said Turner has been bringing teams to the state tournament now for almost a decade. He said the students have been scoring well in the water quality, geocaching and aerial scramble events this year. Turner won three medals at the regional tournament at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in January.

“They have been working really hard lately. I’ve been really glad that a lot of our builds and study sheets are coming together,” Otremba said. “I think we’re as prepared as we can be.”

Club president William Neupert said he was excited to go to the state tournament for the fourth time. As a senior, he said he’s enjoyed making new connections and learning more about science over the last four years. He personally competes in circuit lab, thermodynamics, water quality and code busters.

He said code busters, which requires a team to decode encrypted messages, is his favorite event.

“It sounds daunting when you start, but
