Kerbedanz

Kerbedanz, founded in 2011 in Neuchâtel by current president Tigran Kerbedanz, is known to watch aficionados chiefly for one significant accomplishment: producing the wristwatch with the world’s largest tourbillon, the aptly named Kerbedanz Maximus. With a tourbillon cage measuring a colossal 27 mm in diameter. Such a sizeable mechanism required a total re-imagining of the movement construction, including the use of lightweight titanium parts in the cage that enables the tourbillon regulator, despite its

Boeing to cut down on 737 MAX production in wake of deadly crashes

CHICAGO/SEATTLE – Boeing Co said on Friday it plans to cut its monthly 737 aircraft production by nearly 20 percent in the wake of two deadly crashes, signaling it does not expect aviation authorities to allow the plane back in the air anytime soon.

Deliveries of Boeing’s best-selling aircraft were frozen after a global grounding of the narrowbody model following the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines jet on March 10, killing all 157 people onboard.

Production will be cut to 42 airplanes per month from 52 starting mid-April, the company said in a statement, without giving an end-date.

US and airline officials said they now believe the plane could be grounded for at least two months, but an even longer grounding is a serious possibility.

The crash in Ethiopia and the crash of a Lion Air plane in Indonesia last October that killed all 189 people on board have left the world’s largest planemaker in crisis.

Chief Executive Officer Dennis Muilenburg said on Friday said the company now knows that a chain of events caused both disasters, with erroneous activation of so-called MCAS anti-stall software “a common link” between the two.

Boeing said it would not reduce jobs at the new production rate and will work to minimize the financial impact.

The company’s board will establish a committee to review how the company designs and develops airplanes, Muilenburg said. The group will “recommend improvements to our policies and procedures” for its 737 MAX and other airplane programs.

Boeing said it continues to make progress on a

Since an Ethiopian Airlines aircraft crashed March 10, the Federal Aviation Administration has been under a microscope.

The agency had delegated to Boeing much of the testing of its 737 Max jets. Critics

Russian shotgun-wielding drone shoots other drones out of the sky

We have seen customized drones dropping grenades in the middle east, but this is something entirely different. Check out this Russian shotgun-wielding drone that can shoot other drones, balloons or model airplanes out of the sky. Terrifying? Yes. Impressive? Yes, as well. This is a 50-pound weighing drone that can take-off and land vertically and can shoot other flying objects out of the sky with the help of the Vepr-12 shotgun, that is operated by a second, visor-wearing person who aims the gun through a live video link and sighting system. To top it all off, this heavyweight drone has a flight time of 40 minutes.

Russian shotgun-wielding drone flies for 40 minutes

One of Russia’s largest defense contractors, JSC Almaz Antey, has received a patent for this terrifying shotgun-wielding drone. Work on this unmanned aircraft started in 2016 on behalf of Almaz Antey by the Student Design Bureau of Aviation Modeling at the Moscow Aviation Institute.

The drone is able to take-off and land vertically. Weighs about 50 pounds. Carries a 12 gauge shotgun, a fully automatic version of the Vepr-12 shotgun. And, flies for 40 minutes. If this doesn’t get government officials worried about drones, I’m not sure what will.

In the video below you can see how this heavyweight drone flies very well and is able to shoot down a balloon and a model aircraft before landing successfully. You would think that such a heavy drone would be

‘They Will Bounce Back’: In Seattle, Where the Boeing Max Is Built, They’ve Recovered Before

SEATTLE — Just south of Seattle’s Boeing Field and the Museum of Flight sits another shrine to aviation, Randy’s Restaurant. model airplanes are suspended from the 24-hour diner’s ceiling, with flight manuals and various dog-eared aerospace tomes strewn about its candy-colored booths.

Given its proximity to a major outpost of the Boeing Company, Randy’s has served more than its fair share of chicken-fried steak and brick-shaped hash browns to Boeing employees and their families, among them Ron Russell.

Mr. Russell’s son works at Boeing’s aircraft assembly plant in the city of Everett, where he used to install doors on 747s. His mother also worked for Boeing. He doesn’t have to think back too far to remember 1971, when a global economic slowdown and skyrocketing oil prices prompted the company to lay off more than half its work force, sending Seattle into a tailspin.

Now, as the company grapples with a pair of fatal crashes involving its most popular airplane, the 737 Max, Mr. Russell points to Boeing’s record of resilience as proof that it will be able to overcome the latest troubles. Will its engineers be able to design a solution to the technical conundrum that threatens the company’s best-selling jet ever, which now has been grounded worldwide? “Sure,” Mr. Russell said, without missing a beat.
