‘This Is Us’ Fans’ New Theory About Jack’s Death Will Blow Your Mind

If you’re watching the buzzy new NBC drama This Is Us, chances are you’ve been racking your brain for weeks in an effort to figure out how Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) dies, not to mention what leads his wife, Rebecca (Mandy Moore), to marry Jack’s best friend, Miguel (Jon Huertas). Needless to say, you’re not alone.

Since the show began, This Is Us–ians (a new fandom name we just coined) have been busy conjuring up theories on all corners of the Web about what may have happened to the beloved patriarch, and some of the ideas are rather intriguing.

One viewer’s guess about how Jack meets his demise centers around Kate (Chrissy Metz) and how she dealt with boyfriend Toby (Chris Sullivan) and his recent heart issues. As is common knowledge to any This Is Us-ian (the name is catchy, right?), we first discovered that Jack had passed away when Kate showed Toby the urn in her living room containing her father’s ashes. In a more recent episode, she freaked out at her off-on boyfriend when he initially refused to get surgery for his heart condition. Could this be a hint

HELL’S KITCHEN — Drones, model airplanes and the world’s first “flying dress” will be on display at a new exhibit heading to the Intrepid Sea, Air Space Museum.

“Drones: Is the Sky the Limit?” examines the history of drone technology — “from its modern-day origins in World War I and its military development to its current applications in solving complex humanitarian challenges,” the museum said.

The exhibit will open inside a pavilion on Pier 86, at West 46th Street, on May 10, the release said.

“We are proud to be the first institution in the United States to provide a large-scale look at the exciting world of drone technology,” museum president Susan Marenoff-Zausner said.

The exhibit will showcase drones of various sizes, model airplanes, modern and archival photographs of drones, and technical drawings of possible future technology.

It will also feature a “full-scale conceptual aircraft that may become the personal autonomous transportation system of the future.”

Visitors will be able to fly a virtual drone, as well as take in drone-captured images and video footage as part of an immersive theater experience.

A flying dress once worn by Lady Gaga and a door-to-door delivery drone prototype will also be on display.

“This stunning exhibition will allow visitors of all ages to explore the

Did This Is Us Dad Jack Die In 9/11?

It’s not the only thing that could connect Jack to the events of September 11. Randall (Sterling K. Brown) works in New York City and lives in the suburbs, and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) lives at least fairly close by. The Pearsons may have moved to the outskirts of Manhattan by 2001, making it possible for Jack to have been working in the city at that time.

There is one big wrench in this theory: Kate tells Toby (Chris Sullivan) that she watched the 2006 Super Bowl alongside her dad, which means he was alive long after 9/11. Of course, This Is Us is no stranger to a good twist, which means it’s possible that Kate’s comment didn’t mean exactly what we thought it did — or that she lied to hide the real date her dad passed away.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait to see how this theory, and every other idea about Jack’s death, plays out. According to creator Dan Fogelman’s interview at the 2017 TV Critics’ Association press tour, it will take “many, many episodes” to get all the details about Jack’s death.

The good news? The longer it takes, the longer Jack is technically alive…right?

Allegiant Air Flights Are Apparently Four Times More Likely To Fail Mid-Flight Than Other Airlines

Photo: NBC

If I throw you an extra Hamilton or two, do you think you can get me on a plane that isn’t broken or younger than me?

There are lots of times when you’re getting high that you hope you never come back down again, but the whole point of flying high on an airplane is to eventually come down, preferably safely in the destination that’s printed on your boarding pass.

Well, that’s apparently not how the gang at Allegiant Air sees it.

According to a jaw-dropping investigation conducted by the Tampa Bay Times, the jets that make up the Allegiant Air fleet were forced to make at least…wait for it…77 unexpected landings for serious mechanical failures in 2015, meaning “the budget carrier’s planes are four times as likely to fail during flight as those operated by other major U.S. airlines.”

Several Times reporters built a database of more than 65,000 records from the FAA and then “connected a year’s worth of flight records with documents showing mechanical problems at the 11 largest domestic carriers in the United States, including Allegiant.”

What they discovered is almost as disturbing as grandpa’s inability to make it to the crapper these days:

-Forty-two of Allegiant’s 86 planes broke down in mid-flight at least once in 2015. Among them were 15 forced to land by failing engines, nine by overheating tail compartments and six by smoke or the smell of something burning.

-After certain systems on Allegiant planes
