LOUISVILLE, KY — Joe Booth was told in February to stop taking his medication, his two-year fight with prostate cancer wasn’t looking good.

The 69-year-old New Albany, Indiana resident said he was scared, but there was still one last thing he wanted to do. He wanted to fly in an airplane.

“I’ve never stepped foot in an airplane,” Booth told Courier Journal. “I used to build model airplanes all the time as a kid, but I just never got the chance.”

But last week, on February 25, Booth’s last wish became a reality. Thanks to his oncology nurse at Norton Hospital, Tracey Hoffman, Booth got to fly in a plane where he took off from Bowman Field and saw Louisville and Southern Indiana from thousands of feet in the air.

“Here we are talking about the end of his life and he’s thinking about how he had never been in an airplane,” Hoffman said. “I decided to put it on social media … my phone started to explode.”

Hoffman’s Facebook post gained attention, more than 25 pilots volunteered to give Booth his last flight. A pilot at Bowman Airport in

Webasto opens new sunroof plant in China – just

German auto parts manufacturer Webasto opened its 10th factory in China this month, a new wholly owned vehicle sunroof plant in the southern province of Guangzhou.

Operations at a smaller, adjacent leased facility are to be moved gradually to the new site to minimise production disruption.

The new factory has an annual production capacity of 1.6m sunroofs per year and will supply key automakers in the province including Dongfeng Nissan, FAW-VW and Guangzhou Honda.

According to Webasto, China is the world’s largest market for sunroofs, with a passenger vehicle fitment rate of around 40% compared with a global average of around 33%.

There is also a growing trend in China towards high-spec sunroofs, including convertible and larger panoramic units and sunroofs with heating and cooling systems.

The company generated a turnover of around EUR1bn in China last year, equivalent to just under 30% of its global turnover.

Webasto also said it would soon begin construction of an 11th plant in the country, an electric vehicle battery facility, which will increase its exposure to the country’s booming market for electric vehicles.

The company, which already makes battery charging systems for electric vehicles, earlier this month signed a technical collaboration agreement with Samsung SDI – a leading global manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.

According to Webasto, most sunroofs are either inbuilt or spoiler models. Inbuilt sunroofs are opened when the glass roof panel retracts and disappears into the thin cavity between the metal roof skin and passenger compartment headliner. Powered by an integrated electric motor, the glass panel

City considers releasing control of Springfield-Branson National Airport

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. The Springfield-Branson National Airport has seen record growth in recent years. Now city leaders are considering a new plan that could lead to even more growth and more options for travelers.

“I’ve always said the airport’s really not about airplanes. It’s about economic development and business development,” said Jim Anderson, a member of the SGF Airport Board.

The airport is an economic engine that drives the region with a $400 million impact every year, according to recent state numbers, and members of the board want to know if that impact could be even greater. That is why they are now exploring the idea of what is known as a regional airport authority as opposed to the city airport authority.

Some 2,000 workers in Springfield owe their jobs to the airport, statistics show. Even though the airport is self-supporting, meaning it receives no local tax dollars, it is under the control of the city. The growing airport is on track to see one million passengers for the first time ever this year.

Anderson said being under the city authority has some benefits, but he will be part of the task force investigating the idea of a regional airport authority. That model is already in place in fast-growing economies like Fayetteville, Tulsa, and Des Moines, Anderson said..

“From a business development standpoint, seems to me that’s the big difference, you can be more entrepreneurial in nature as an airport authority as opposed to a department of the

New Britain toy store is still going strong | WTNH Connecticut News

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — One Connecticut toy store is showing its resilience despite the widespread closures of big box stores.

Chris Snyder went to Amato’s Toy and Hobby in New Britain to get the newest twist on a very old toy.

“It started as a ball in a cup they added in a spike,” he said.

He loves the mom-and-pop store with the hardwood floors and the model airplanes hanging from the ceiling.

“Looking around here, you are like, ‘I used to have one of those, years ago, as a kid, I remember those, those are awesome!’” He explained.

Stephen Amato took over the family business from his father, who started the American dream back in 1940.

“He saved up about $100 and opened up a model airplane department in his dad’s plumbing store,” Amato recalled.

Boeing faces slowdown in 737 fuselage deliveries from Spirit AeroSystems

Boeing has been hit by a slowdown in deliveries of 737 fuselages from Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, Kansas.

Although Boeing says it’s a short-term problem, the supply-chain glitch is threatening to stem, at least temporarily, the flow of cash it derives from the normally super-productive 737 program.

According to one Boeing worker who makes parts for the 737 in the Puget Sound region, “We’ve got 10 airplanes’ worth of product we can’t ship to Renton because of the fuselage shortages from Spirit.”

Boeing spokesman Doug Alder conceded that fuselage deliveries have been slowed but he said, so far, customer deliveries have not been affected.

“Boeing is working closely with Spirit as they track toward a full recovery in the next couple of weeks,” Alder said in a brief statement. “We have a plan in place to mitigate the issue in our factory so that airplane deliveries to our customers remain on schedule.”

The slowdown affects the complete fuselages that are delivered on rail cars daily from Wichita to Renton, where Boeing attaches the wings and installs all the airplane systems as well as the cabin interiors.

At the current production rate of 47 airplane deliveries per month, more than two jets roll out every working day from the Renton assembly plant, requiring a steady supply of those fuselages from Spirit.

Two weeks ago, the plant rolled out the 10,000th
