LAS CRUCES – The Mesilla Valley model airplane Club is sponsoring a Fly for Tots event on Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Las Cruces R/C Airport, according to a news release.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon with fixed wing model airplane and drone racing flights. Pilots flying in this event need to be a current AMA member and need to bring a toy for donation to Toys for Tots.
Spectators are free and welcome.
A raffle benefiting Toys for Tots and other local charities will be held at noon for one of six model airplanes that have been donated for this event. The organization also will be accepting toy donations for the local area Toys for Tots.
Toys need to be new and unwrapped. Any toy donation will receive a raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets are available for purchase.

The Las Cruces R/C Airport is located at the old Las Cruces landfill off Sonoma Ranch Boulevard, one block south of the intersection of Lohman Avenue.
